Hope for Augusta began in 2008 when some families and individuals from First Presbyterian Church bought old homes and moved into the downtown neighborhood of Augusta, GA. Their focus was two-fold: to restore people and rebuild places. As they developed relationships within the neighborhood they began to understand the assets and the challenges of the community.
What started as a regular community dinner morphed into a weekly community Bible study for kids. Through that, the neighbors began to know each other and assistance in the areas of tutoring, mentoring, and discipleship began. Now Hope for Augusta partners with other like-minded organizations to serve families in the downtown neighborhoods through after-school tutoring, Bible studies, mentorships, and summer programs.
